Sediment Filter Socks for Stormwater Runoff

Sediment filter socks work by acting as a permeable barrier. As stormwater runoff flows toward or against the sock, the porous fiber filling slows the water's energy and traps lifted soil particles on the upstream side. Filtered water passes through the sock, significantly reducing sediment discharge and helping construction sites meet stormwater pollution prevention plan (SWPPP) requirements.

Biodegradable natural fiber versions are generally rated for temporary use of up to 12 months, making them ideal for construction site erosion control. Semi-permanent and reusable options made from synthetic or blended materials can last longer when maintained properly.
